In-Person Gathering Plan 
 
1. Restrictions From Attending

Anyone who meets any of the following criteria is not permitted to attend:

  • In the past 48 hours you have had, or you are currently experiencing:
      • fever or cough (new or worsening)
    • Or: Two or more of the following symptoms (new or worsening):
      • sore throat
      • runny nose
      • headache
      • shortness of breath
  • You have travelled outside of the four Atlantic provinces in the previous 14 days 
  • You have had close contact to someone with a confirmed case of COVID-19 
  • You are awaiting a COVID-19 test result 

 

Be advised that individuals considered at a higher risk of severe illness with COVID -19 include but are not limited to those over 65 and those with compromised immune systems or underlying health conditions. 

 

There will be a list of the most updated signs and symptoms for COVID-19 posted at our designated entrance locations & on our signup form. More information regarding symptoms can be found on the 811 website. 

 

2. Physical Distancing & Masks
  • Adults attending a worship gathering must maintain a distance of 6ft from anyone not in their family bubble or social group of up to 10 persons adhering to section 5.3(b) of the Health Protection Act. 
  • Physical distancing in seating will be guaranteed by markings on the seats or by ushers showing attendees to a seat 6ft from the nearest group.
  • Everyone in attendance must wear a mask that covers their mouth & nose.
    • Exceptions:

(a) Anyone speaking or singing from the front in order to provide leadership (eg. Praise team singers, prayer, preaching, etc.) may remove their mask while undertaking that role but must immediately after fulfilling that role put their mask back on; 

(b) a person is less than 2 years of age or age 2 to 4 years and their caregiver cannot persuade them to wear a mask;

(c) a person for whom the wearing of a mask is not possible because of the person’s medical condition; and

  • Physical greetings like handshakes and hugs are not permitted.
  • We will not pass offering plates or communion plates. 
  • People singing and speaking at the front will be at least 12ft from the nearest attendee. 
  • Adults without children can use either the Commercial Street or School entrance.
  • Adults with children must enter by the School Street entrance and sign in their kids at the gym. See details below. 
  • The bathrooms nearest to the Family Life Centre, the washroom on the balcony level, and the washroom in the basement nearest to the mud room are all reserved for children/youth and are not to be used by others attending the worship service. 
  • The bathroom in the vestry as well as the bathroom in the basement nearest the stairs can be used by anyone attending the worship service. 

 

3. Personal Hygiene 
  • Everyone will sanitize their hands as soon as they enter the building
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth 
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or into your elbow
  • Do not share personal items or supplies such as phones, pens, notebooks, PPE, etc… 
  • Refrain from shaking hands with others 
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the washroom, after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. 

 

4. Gathering Limit
  • The number of people who may attend will be limited to 200 people, or half the building capacity whichever is less
  • In order to ensure we do not exceed the gathering limit, attendees must sign up in advance

 

5. Environmental Cleaning
  • High touch surfaces will be cleaned and disinfected between each gathering in the facility

 

6. Children’s Ministry 

 

During the course of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the following special measures are in place to protect leaders, staff, children, their families, and the community from possible infection and illness. This document is prepared to help everyone stay as safe as possible. 

Middleton Baptist Church’s Children’s Ministry is required to keep a complete list of every individual(child) in attendance. 

  • 1: Illness
      • All leaders will be trained in proper COVD-19 procedures, including but not limited to: proper cleaning, symptoms, and PPE (personal protective equipment)
      • Leaders will not attend if they are showing any symptoms or have reason to believe they have come into contact with COVID-19
      • Records will be kept of everyone on site (staff, leaders, parents/guardians, children
      • If any child is found to be unwell, they will be isolated from other children and leaders. They will be supervised by a leader in PPE until their guardian arrives. All areas where the child was present will be sanitized 
  • 2: Cohorting, Social Distancing and Masks
      • Groups will be maintained with no more than 10 people (leaders included) and will remain socially distanced from other cohorts 
      • All children, parents and volunteers will be required to wear a mask that covers their mouth and nose
          • Exceptions
              • Unfortunately, because our Kingdom Kids experience includes time in small groups where social distancing is not possible (within cohorts of 10), we are unable to accommodate children who cannot wear masks during the pandemic. 
              • If your child cannot wear a mask, please contact our children’s director Caleb (calebarchibald1@gmail.com) and you can discuss alternate options for having your kids be part of Kingdom Kids at this time
                  • Options include participating only in the large group time where social distancing is possible.
                  • Or making use of our at home online experience with parent guides for how to facilitate this
      • One parent will sign in and sign out their child/children from the same pick up/drop off location 
  • 3: Personal Hygiene
      • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or into your elbow. 
      • Frequent hand washing will be encouraged when or where possible. Leaders will be equipped with hand sanitizer for campers to use before/after using programming equipment, after sneezing or coughing, or anything of that nature 
      • Hand sanitizer will be provided upon child’s arrival to church 
      • Signage in the washroom will be posted to remind children of proper hand hygiene and proper cough etiquette 
  • 4: Cleaning
      • Frequently touched surfaces – including bathrooms – will be cleaned and sanitized prior following Children’s services 
  • 5: Equipment
      • After activities are complete, all equipment and used items will be sanitized 
      • Where possible, each child will be given their own assigned equipment (craft supplies, ball, etc..) 
  • 6: Food & Drink
      • All volunteers will be present during snack time, making sure that children are not sharing food with one another  
  • 7: Communication
      • Proper guidelines and safety precautions will be communicated through e-mail to the parents
  • 8: Outbreak Management
      • Daily attendance records will be kept of all leaders and children

**Please note there is NO separate program for children/youth on Saturdays, though Children/youth are welcome to join us in the sanctuary.
