Faith Over Fear

In light of today’s global situation, we are given an incredible opportunity as Christians, the Church, and as parents. We set the example for those who are watching us, like our littles, for our reaction, emotions, and conversation around Covid-19 and the panic that is erupting around the world. We have the ability to choose to set an example as followers of Jesus, representing peace, calm, kindness, and faith in these uncertain times to those around us, including our children.

It may not be just you experiencing these fears or anxieties your children may be as well. The Bible talks to us about how we should respond to fear and anxiety…..

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation,
by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding,
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:6-7

“When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.”

Psalm 94:19

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous.
Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged,
for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Joshua 1:9

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”

Psalm 46:1

These verses speak of God as our refuge, strength, helper, and giver of peace. We are asked to bring those fears and anxieties before Him and allow Him to replace those with His peace. We must not allow those feelings of fear or anxiety to control our lives or our actions. We must Trust that God is in control and is working through this situation as a whole. We encourage you to have age appropriate conversations with your children regarding Covid-19, their own fears, or questions.

Here are a few helpful tools to be able to have conversations with your children around Covid-19:
